PS 46 takes social emotional learning as our number one priority.

We begin every day by with students reading a morning message that promotes positivity and teaches a desireable character trait.
Students then recite our mantras of positivity that state:

  • I am thankful!

  • I am strong!

  • I am smart!

  • I can do anything I put my mind to!

Each morning begins with a class-wide check-in where students have an opportunity to share how they are feeling and why. Throughout the day, students are praised for hard work, growth, and the effort they put into their own learning. Our teachers work to coach students through conflict and difficult situations by engaging in role play and having lessons that practice these situations. Our school also hosts monthly Community Circle which brings the whole school together to celebrate positive things that students and staff see going on in the building.

Our school utilizes the Sanford Harmony curriculum which provides opportunities for students to engage with their classmates and work together to build strong relationships based on positive communication.
